Alejandra Rodríguez, a 60-year-old lawyer and journalist from La Plata, breaks stereotypes to be crowned – Miss Universe Argentina 2024.
Beauty pageants have long been seen as contests for appraising the beauty of young ladies.
However, Alejandra Rodríguez, 60, made history as Miss Universe Argentina 2024, according to PEOPLE. Surprisingly, this is the 60th year of the national pageant, which coincides with the winner’s age.
Rodríguez, a lawyer and journalist from La Plata, won out of 34 other contenders ranging in age from 18 to 73. Previously, the age limit for the Miss Universe pageant was 18-28 years, but this criterion was recently discarded.

She secured a spot for herself in the event and even won as a result of this move.
She will now participate in Miss Universe 2024, representing Argentina on May 25 in Buenos Aires. If she wins, she could advance to participate in the world championship this fall.
According to the Buenos Aires Times, Rodríguez stated, “I am thrilled to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are inaugurating a new stage in which women are not only physical beauty but another set of values.”
Rodríguez believes she is the first of her generation to participate in the contest, which is now open to everyone over the age of 18. She hopes that many others will follow suit.
Rodríguez, who is divorced and has no children, attributes her everlasting youth and beauty to genetics, frequent exercise, a nutritious diet, and early use of skincare products.

Rodríguez, the newly crowned Miss Universe Argentina 2024, is not the only trailblazer.
Another woman is shifting the age paradigm from the Dominican Republic, Haidy Cruz, 47, who will represent the Dominican Republic in the 2024 contest, which will be held in Mexico City this fall, according to Hola!
Unfortunately, Rodríguez was out of the race on May 25, according to PEOPLE. She could not take the crown home and represent her country on an international stage.
However, she believes that ‘change is coming,’ and she has opened the doors for others who might follow suit.
