Just two months ago, the Good Word team reported on 60-year-old Alejandra Rodríguez, who made waves by participating in Miss Universe Argentina 2024.

A lawyer and journalist by profession, Rodríguez defeated 34 other contestants to win the title, as the age-limit criteria was rejected by the Miss Universe pageant recently.

Although she could not win the title and represent her country on an international stage, she surely created a buzz with her participation in the event.

If you thought Rodríguez was gorgeous with her age-defying looks, here comes America’s oldest-ever contestant, 71-year-old Marissa Teijo from El Paso, Texas.

The beauty queen will represent Texas in the Miss USA competition, which will be held in August this year. She will compete against 100 other participants, according to reports by the Daily Mail.

Miss USA contest has relaxed its norms concerning the age limits of contestants, their marital status, etc. The beauty pageant will now allow divorced, pregnant, and older women to make the event more inclusive.

Teijo recently shared her excitement and participation in the beauty pageant in an Instagram post, along with her professional pictures.

She captioned the post, “I am delighted to be a part of this incredible new experience as a contestant in the Miss Texas USA pageant.”

She added, “In doing so, I hope to inspire women to strive to be their best physical and mental self and believe there is beauty at any age.”
